today would have been my Mom's 83rd birthday.....I miss her smile, her encouragement, her hugs, ........she was my greatest cheerleader, my best friend, the one person that always looked at me and said "you can do this" and really meant it..........it seems like yesterday that she was sitting at the sewing machine along side me ....lifting that paint brush .... reading her Harlequin Romance book..........oh so many wonderful memories of not only my Mom but my best friend................love you Mom!........I've been so blessed

almost gone.....

this old log house just touches my heart.....we pass it at least three times a week and I never fail to glance her way!......is she still standing....has another part of the roof fallen in....has another window been shattered by the elements........oh if I could only save her!......I love old log houses, and the thought of her sitting there all alone and just waiting...........oh my goodness, it breaks my heart. she has had a good life, and oh the stories I am sure she could tell us....................put another log on the fire....stitch one stitch two....Johnnie has gone off to war.....the signs are right, let's put in the garden....put up the quilting frames......blow out that kerosene lamp sweetie..............................

Oh by the way.....I have gotten permission to walk a little closer, and pay her a visit! .....I am so blessed!

this day.....GROUNDHOG!!!

This day was special around our house......when our girls were growing up & occasionally had the treat of staying with MY grandparents on a summer day.....that pesky little groundhog would be causing much grief on the garden front........so Megan with her toy gun and Grandad with his shot gun would stand at the kitchen door and pretend to shoot in the air to scare away Grandad's little pesk.........then he would burst into song...."sharpen up your ax.. whistle up your dog..goin' down to Grandad's to catch a groundhog"....
It wasn't until last year, that I even realized it was an actual song!..........So every year on this day, a song was sung, a card was sent, a phone call made....all to remember a little groundhog, and alot of love!
Megan is now 33, and I am sure that is a lasting memory .....she can now pass it on to her first born expected soon........."goin' down to Grandad's to catch a groundhog"........I am so blessed!
