another Cypress Garden.....

i left my post this morning hoping i could find a photo of the beautiful southern belles that would walk the pathways of Cypress Gardens ................. this is the best i could find..................and in reading the comments from the previous post , denise informed me that Cypress Gardens is no longer there....................... it makes my heart so sad to know that such beauty is no longer there....................can you believe that at such a young age i was even impressed by the beautiful gardens and all their glory ....................one of those things i will treasure in my memory forever.................

Like others, I didn't know it wasn't there anymore, but I am not surprised. Life was certainly different in the 50's and 60's when it was a tourist mecha. My grandparents went there for a conference. They brought me back a beautiful puzzle of the ladies in there dresses. It was a huge puzzle. It was something that I still foundly remember.
Thanks for the memory jult.

The Pope's sold out to Busch Gardens. They own the property now.
Mr. Pope was a mentor to my mother and also sponsered her in her successful run as Miss Florida.
My mother was one of those lovely girls you see with the "southern gowns" on in the pictures. I have several postcards with her picture on them from there.
I spent many a peaceful afternoon fishing at the Pope's private lake with my grandmother as a child.
They were wonderful people.
