remembering.......

this is a day of many memories..................this is a proud seabee sailor......and his soon to be bride......................not only did this man serve our country proudly........when he returned home, he followed his passion of working with stone.....................working in the limestone mills as an apprentice cutter, he was asked by my great-grandmother to make a monument for my great-grandfather......................................thus the beginning of not only serving his country proudly, he embarked on a career, owning a monument business......proudly crafting everlasting memorials............................................over the years...i watched as his compassion for people at their most sorrowful time took hold......patient and guiding them toward decisions that would be everlasting......he helped them through difficult decisions.........................i would go along for a setting in the cemetery........helped put in a foundation, take a rubbing, put in a vase....................taught never to walk on a grave, which i still cannot do to this day..............this man honored Memorial Day more than any i know........................................i am blessed!
