oh the calmness of a Sunday .............................. the day of having our souls refreshed and readied for another week ......................................... the day we relax a bit ......................... slow down .............................. and prepare ourselves for the new week ahead ........................ may this day .................... this start of a fresh new slate ....................................... find me willing ....... able ............... and rejoicing in each new day ...........

time to "sparkle".....

this chair.....

i wouldn't part with it for anything .............................. this chair ......................... the journey it has taken with me since 6th grade ............................... the yr. my parents built our new ..... limestone split level house 

it was an ordinary day of off to school on the bus ........................... not knowing the surprise that awaited me .................................. mom & granny had worked all day decorating my bedroom ................................ purple & lavender .............................. curtains ................ bedspread .................... and this chair upholstered in matching fabric .............................. what makes it even more special, this was my favorite chair to sit in at granny's grocery store ......................... at one time it had been a rocker, but the rockers were long gone ................................. i love the creak it has when you sit or move ever so gently ............... the precious memories for many reasons ............................... i know now how hard they must have worked for the surprise .................... how much fun they must have had ......... the giggles shared.......the stories told that day .............................. oh the joy in the simple things................. this chair!

a front porch cupboard.....

first off ........... when mr. prairie blue arrived home from work yesterday .................... his first words ...... i think the wagon needs sides on it ...................... i was thrilled .................. i would love sides, but was so excited just to have a bed on it, wasn't going to rock the boat .............. so from 3:30 ~ 7:30 with temps dropping and rain falling ................. it now has sides ....Yay!........will post pics later when i get the area a little more presentable ...................... and planted .........!

these are a couple of pics at different times of our front porch ........................ i got this make~do cupboard from Kadin's Creek on the "Country Neighbors Tour" (look her up on facebook!)

i love old milk bottles .......... never have known quite what to do with a gazillion collections ........ so this one landed here ...................... along with my mom's old grapevine tree that we made probably 25~30 yrs. ago ........................... my old blue washer ....................  and two old hickory rockers that i got for a song at an auction 10 yrs. ago ........................ the rockers were off and a few minor repairs with alot of wood glue and clamps and they have withstood it all .............................. because i don't like perfect!

make-do wagon .....

part of our freshening up ........................ we cut out new signs ........moved them a bit ....................... drilled holes in the rusty wheel barrel .................................. 

moved this old rusty wheel from another corner of the yard ...... and added another set of rusty wheels from the backyard .......................... mr. prairie blue made a bed for it and it looks like a make-do wagon! ..................... now time to clip the daffodils ....................... add a few hostas and such and we have made over the corner of the drive ................................ so excited to have this wagon for seasonal display for the shop ...................................................thank you.... thank you mr. prairie blue !

rock city.....

i ran across this photo on "pinterest" today ............................. oh how my memory flashed back to vacations the week of July 4th .......... all the limestone mills in the area closed that week ...................... mom, daddy & i would load in the car .............................. headed south to the Smokey Mountains ...............

no air conditioning in the car or motel ................... detours everywhere ..................... chain gangs .................. stopping at the local gas stations for potty breaks & a cold coca-cola (maybe some peanuts to sprinkle in!) .............. riding in the back window or floor board for a change  ....................... and these wonderful barns dotted the roads south ...................................................................... don't remember ever seeing "Rock City" ................................................ but i do recall wonderful memories !

seperation.....

what is it about seperating myself from things ......... i get so attached ................... so many memories ........... this isn't even mine .................................... this was my Marah's favorite, beloved piece from my Mom's collection ............................................... it was the first item Marah chose when we were selling and dividing Mom & Daddy's things ............. at that time not married, i have stored it here at our home .................... it was in Daddy's room while he was still here ........................... and then moved to the garage .......................

covered with sheets ........... never seen ....................... never enjoyed by someone ................................ we have decided it is time to pass it on ....................... Marah's beloved piece, she has no room for ................... except for all those wonderful memories from Nannie's house ......................  and in her heart forever ! ...................... if she is at peace with it.......i should be as well ........................................ as Marah said "it has been loved by every house it has been in ........................ may it be loved again !

time to clean & freshen.....

isn't spring all about freshening up ........... cleaning ........... making all things new & clean again .......................... well ............................. that is where i have been .......................... cleaning attics and garage ............................ hoping to rid myself of so much clutter ................................ pray for me ........................ i am way to sentimental ....... needing to hold onto so many things that hold a memory ......when i know the memory is in my heart ................... time to  toss !

 well ............maybe i will just save a few little things .......................... uhhhhhh !

my mind is a jumble ......!

a tiny little screened in porch off our bedroom ............. one of those lazy ..... rainy .......kinda mornins' ............ so we sat for a bit on this tiny little porch ............. my mind is racing .................... all the things i would love to finish out here .......................... paint the walls ........maybe my red on the walls .....restain the floor .........new settee cover & pillows in the other corner .............................. oh my mind is just a jumble of ideas .............................. oh, that means ...................... i would have to do something productive !
