SuRpRiSE......!

i love surprises......i sure got one!.....as you all know my birthday was last Thurs.....what i didn't know was, my daughter had planned a surprise birthday dinner with my rug-hookin gal pals........enter.....a snow storm.......plans changed..............................so went for dinner last night, still no clue............................and to my surprise there sat my "Hickety-Pickety Hooker" friends........the most special friends, EVER!...................we are such kindred souls......all different in our own right, but still bonded by more than a love of hooking..................bonded by a sisterhood of our souls......................we laugh ........cry........share........we are woven together just like our pieces of wool......we form a pattern of friendship that i will forever cherish............................................................thank you Megan & my friends for a wonderful 60th memory......................................................................i am a forever blessed woman!

the gift.....

saved fabrics from my Mom's favorite plaid shirts & denim...........a few years back, i had quilts made for my girls from Nannie's favs and gave them to each on Mom's birthday, Feb.12............i kept forgetting to buy backing for mine, until a few months ago...................told her no hurry...........................................out of the blue, sweet Lisa called my husband at work, mentioned it was finished and would make a nice Valentine present.....his response "her birthday is this week"...........long story short, when i woke up yesterday morn it was waiting on me with the sweetest card EVER........................what a sweet surpise, both from my husband & my Mom's ever present spirit .......................................................oh yes, i am truly one blessed woman!

oh my where have all these years gone.......sixty to be exact..............i can't quite believe i am here....................a few wrinkles.................the hair is starting to grey.............the joints ache a bit.............................................but...............................today i am spending my day hooking.....watching the snow from my window...................................enjoying my day inside & knowing that i am blessed beyond measure......................................

a change.....hmmmm!

what to do......trees, decorations down.....bare spots......new places for things......i need a fresh new look............what to do...............what shall go in this spot............hmmmmmm!..................anyway, i am blessed!

just a few little stitches to share with you today.........................a half finished embroidery of my Mom's............the starting a simple sampler by one of my girls many years ago........and the sweetest little bird pin cushion from my sweet friend Linda............................and a very special prayer stiched by my great-grandmother.................................all with very precious little stitches...................................................................i am blessed!

knee deep.....

well.......i have been missing for awhile..........i have been knee deep in black & white damask.....black & white polka-dot.......and a touch of Paris..................with a little splash of pink here and there.........................spent the week with my daughter......two sewing machines at full speed......unwound bobbins.......lots of giggles.........and a room complete...........four weeks and counting till the princess arrives.......................................(this isn't her room, i forgot to snap a picture...but this was her inspiration)....................................................definitely.....i a blessed!

just thinkin........................2011.....................our house will be 100 yrs. old.........i will be 60.........married 40............the oldest grand will be five.......next will be three........our youngest grand will be one..............................and a new little girl will enter into our lives in six weeks........yep........just sittin' here thinkin'.................................................i am blessed!
